World renowned producer, Drumma Boy Fresh, hosted his second annual “My Fashion Weekend” in Austin, TX. Drumma Boy is best known for his production of the Platinum selling single, “No Love” featuring Nicki Minaj and August Alsina, “No Hands” featuring rapper Waka Flocka, and “Look at my Dab” featuring rap star Migos to name a few. Since becoming an established producer, Drumma Boy redirected his talents to focus on introducing new artists. By creating and hosting his event weekend, Drumma Boy is able to carry out his mission and build his brand.
HHW: This year you’re hosting your second annual event weekend. What is your goal, and what is the “My Fashion Weekend” all about?
Drumma Boy Fresh: We just want to keep providing a platform for up and coming artists, and independent artists. We also want to give an opportunity to the Drum Squad DJ’s to break new records and artists. We like to focus on introducing our own artists on the label, “Drum Squad Records” too.
HHW: Who are some of the new artists and DJs affiliated with your label that your trying to market?
Drumma Boy Fresh: Kid6531, Real Scott King, LI Tha Great, Lil Will, DJ Difrent, DJ LX, and DJ Baby Chino. You can visit www.drumsquaddjs.com or www.drumsquad.com to read and learn more about them.
HHW: Why did you decide to host you annual series of events during the South by South West (SXSW) Interactive Festival?
Drumma Boy Fresh: South by South West is one of the biggest branding opportunities of the year, so it’s only right that we bring the Drum Squad, my Moreno BHLV Liquor, Drum Squad DJ’s, Drum Squad Records, the Fresh Phamily, and myself DrummaBoy.
HHW: Many people do not realize that you are an entrepreneur. What are some other business ventures you are working on?
Drumma Boy Fresh: I have my “Fresh Phamily” clothing line. We did a big store collective status where we have different stores around the area of Austin, TX interested in our brand because of the line’s presence. I am also planning a celebrity basketball game this weekend called “Hard Knock Hoops” which is sponsored by Adidas. I plan on introducing our liquor Moreno BHLV, a sparkling wine, at “Specs,” which is one of the biggest liquor store chains in the United States.
HHW: Outside of your entrepreneurial endeavors, are you working on any new music?
Drumma Boy Fresh: I’m currently working with Luke Whitney. He is an R&B and Pop artist from Houston. He’s a white kid who plays the guitar and he’s incredible. His voice is like a mixture of Jon B and Justin Timberlake. He makes really incredible soulful music. His social media is @LukeWhitneyMusic on Instagram.
HHW: Do you plan on having another My fashion Weekend?
Drumma Boy Fresh: Yes, we plan on having the event every year and we always have it during the South by South West weekend.
